I engaged Dawes, initially for my Ltd company work. The Ltd company accounting, tax returns and general compliance work was handled to a good standard during that period, and I have no hesitation recommending them for that. The issues arose at the wind-down stage and during my subsequent sole trader engagement.

They recommended striking off my Ltd before all HMRC matters were resolved. HMRC then issued a £165 Corporation Tax refund cheque to a dissolved company with a closed bank account, which I cannot bank. When I asked them to write to HMRC to have it reissued in a form I could receive, they declined and directed me to resolve it with HMRC myself. In my view that is the sort of loose end I would have expected to be picked up before I was advised to dissolve the company. The strike-off itself took around nine months from when I first raised it, with no explanation given to me for the delay.

On the sole trader engagement I was overcharged for a subscription across five months and had to chase repeatedly for a refund. I was also charged £18 for a failed direct debit that I understand arose at their end.

I have now terminated the engagement. If you are considering Dawes for straightforward Ltd company work they may serve you well, but based on my experience I would think carefully before using them for company wind-downs or sole trader engagements.

Jamie and his team were with us right from the beginning.  As this was our first time in the pub business I wanted to focus on the customers and not paper work and Jamie allowed that freedom.  From accounts to payroll and everything in between, I didn't have to worry about any of it and if there was an issue, they were always available to sort things out.  We have now retired and would like to thank Dawes for making all of our transitions that much easier!

Having been with the Dawes Accountancy  nearly 2 years now, my experience with them just gets better and better.
